ICANN Domain Name Procedures

Domain name transactions are carried out within the framework of procedures determined by the internationally organized Internet Corporation for Assigned Numbers and Names – ICANN.

These procedures are rules determined by the relevant authority, have worldwide validity, cannot be changed, and are binding on all domain extensions.

Domains lose all administrative rights after the end of their registration period. No moderation of vital importance for domains such as editing contact information and dns changes can be carried out on domains whose registration period has expired. The most ideal way to avoid such a situation is to extend the domain before the expiration date.

The complete loss of the right ownership of the domains takes place at the end of the 50-day process.

If the ownership of a domain that has expired and the retrieval process has not been initiated within the framework of the relevant procedures is lost and the relevant domain becomes invalid, the domain can be re-registered by any user in accordance with the extension policy.

Deleting a Domain

If the domain renewal payment is not paid on or before the domain renewal date, your domain address expires.

At the end of the period, your domain address will be disabled and a parking page indicating that the domain has expired will be displayed, or access to your domain address will stop. Email, web hosting, etc. other services that you associate with your domain address will no longer work.

50 days after the expiration date, your domain address may be purchased by a third party. If a third party purchases the domain during this period, the domain will not be eligible for renewal.

If the domain has not been renewed by you or purchased by a third party, an expired domain enters the redemption period approximately -8 days after the expiration date. In some domain extensions (e.g. .de, .at, .ru), enters the record-keeping period - redemption period - earlier than -8 days. If you are able to renew your domain address during this period (with a renewal fee), we reserve the right to charge you a late renewal fee or a restoration fee. The fee charged for late renewal and restoration varies depending on the domain extension.

.com, .net, .org, .us, .info, .ist, .in domain extensions such as xyz, it is possible to renew for up to -8 days and -8. it enters the domain deletion process on the day. - the deletion process after 8 days is 30 days, and the domain will be revealed after a total of 50 days.  If you do not renew your domain name address on time, you may have to pay a late renewal fee and a domain restoration fee. In addition, even if the domain will be exposed for -50 days, it is known to be purchased by different companies or people both by manual tracking and by backorder method.

If the domain also completes the record-keeping period, the registration firm may retain the domain address for five days before releasing it again for general registration.

Domain Name Procedures
Active Status (Active)

The domain is registered and has not entered any drop phase. At any time during this process, the domain owner can extend the duration of the domain at normal pricing. It can perform all administrative operations related to the domain.

On-Hold Status (Pending)

The phrase "registrar-hold" is displayed on the status screen, which can be displayed as a result of the whois query of the domains entered in this process. Domains, minus the thought is stopped. domains such as .com net .org .info can be extended with a penalty of up to minus 8 days. Some country-coded domains expire at +1 or -1 and must be restored. Generic domains are usually deleted at -8 and can be restored and reactivated for up to -50 days.There are late renewal fees for some domains below.

Redemption Period (Last chance to save)

This period is a period created by ICANN to give the domain owner one last chance to extend the domain. The registration period of the domain starts after the domain is deleted -8 days following the end of the registration period. During this period, the domain owner is subject to criminal charges for extending the domain. This cost is reflected to the customer as 85 USD in .com .net domains. In addition, a domain renewal fee is charged for domain renewal, except for the restoration fee. This fee is higher in other domain extensions.

Pending Delete (Waiting to be deleted)

It is a 5-day period that starts after the Redemption period. During this period, the domain owner does not have the right to reclaim the domain. At the end of the process, the domain is completely deleted and becomes eligible for a new registration.

As mentioned in the above processes, a domain* will be re-registered within 50 days if its registration is not renewed.
